About: The Sterling Theater has been part of the Sterling/Rock Falls, Illinois, communities for over a century. The theater opened in 1924, featuring vaudeville and stage acts. In 1943, it was practically destroyed by fire, but out of the ashes, the new theater was built in 1944. In case you are wondering about the blue tower, their website states, "One of the features of the rebuilt Sterling Theater was a lighted tower, which became a beacon for entertainment in downtown Sterling."
This is based on a photo taken by David Kim. Many thanks to David, who went out a couple of times in February (in cold northern Illinois weather) to get just the right photo for me to work from! That's what I call a good friend!
