Details: Pittsburgh is an exciting city. It has undergone significant changes since the 1960s, transforming from a steel town to a vibrant city with a strong arts presence. This is from a photo I took of a building on the river. It is called CAPA 6-12, a Creative and Performing Arts Magnet school serving sixth through twelfth grades. I merged a photo of mushrooms (they resemble lemons in my painting!). I usually use only my own photos to create my art, but a long-time friend posted a photo of wild mushrooms growing on a tree stump on his land. I loved the photo and asked if I could incorporate it into a painting, and thankfully, he said yes! In my blog, "How I Work," I discuss how I created this piece.
The Urban Views Collection is inspired by the cities I have traveled to.
