About: The Vintage Edge is based on a photo I took of a barber shop located in Champaign, Illinois. The shop is in a building that once housed the Theatre Belvoir, a movie theater built in 1915.
I visited Champaign on a Sunday afternoon and found many businesses closed for the day. However, I was thrilled to see this shop open, with a barber working with a customer.
The graffiti is from Richmond, Indiana. It was on the side of a bridge that was in the process of being removed for new road construction. Much to my delight, many people recognized the graffiti when this piece was shown in an exhibition at the Richmond Art Museum in 2024. The graffiti is long gone but lives on in this piece.
This piece received a Merit Award in 2024 from the Art Barn School of Art.
Limited Edition: 1/5
About Limited Prints: I produce a limited number of prints, sign them, and include the year of completion and the number of prints in the series. When possible, the signature is on the (hidden) white border. If the printer provided no border, the signature is on the back of the print. In either case, I use an archival marker. The archival markers I use won't bleed or damage the print. Signing the print is a way to guarantee the origin of the artwork during my lifetime.
